Good by to old habits!

Wow..it has been almost a month since I last posted. I really needed this break though. I have managed to accomplish some goals and some work. After a mild winter and then those warm days in March, I was so eager to get out and get all my yard work done. I have managed to do just that except for planting a few more flowers. I built flower boxes for my shed, planted my vegetable garden, built my potting bench, lawn care is finished for now,  cleaned my pond, bought a bike, started running/walking 3 miles a day, preparing for my first 5K, and the number one goal I set out to achieve and DID....I quit smoking!!!! yea me!!!!!
So see I have been a busy girl concentrating hard on some much needed things in my life.
Have an awesome day

Granpa's guitar

Here is some vintage for you. I finally got my grandpa's guitar. If I am not mistaken, this guitar is estimated to be around 80 - 100 years old!!
Not only is it vintage, just the way I like my stuff, but it is a family heirloom.
Double the pleasure like the old gum commercial said..remember that one??

She is beat up and bruised so now the dilemma of choosing to restore her or leave her just the way Grandpa left her.

He stuffed it with his strings and things. The Black Diamond strings are dated back to 1890's thru 1930's.

Here is all the stuff I found inside the guitar. I was hoping Grandpa stashed some money in there...but nope!! He took it all with him. Wiley Borem...1892-1981.. God rest his soul.
Do you have any old heirlooms to share with me?
Someone really should have a linky party with this theme..now that would be fun!!
ta ta for now friends

2 makes 1 wonderful display

I had some small plastic frames from a thrift store which had beautiful carvings. I decided to paint them white to try to offset the ugly plastic look. I really didn't need them for pictures so I went with creating a collage out of them.
I glued them together with hot glue of course. (this will make it easier to separate if I choose to later) I played with them for a bit till I got them just the way I wanted. The clothes pins are to support them since they were in a 3D format.
I also happened to pick up a mirror frame from an old dresser mirror. Who know where the mirror is!

I painted it white also and added a shelf. I screwed it to the little clasps that held the tilting mirror at one time.
At this point I decided to assemble them together to use over my faux mantel.

Hung them on the wall together and voila!! I think it turned out pretty nice if I do say so myself. They are not crooked...that is my expert photography skills!!!
Drop me a comment and let me know what you think!!
I hope this gives you some inspiration on what to do with some thrift finds you have laying around.
Till next time friends,
